WMU

Studies show that churches that have WMU give more to mission causes, pray more for missions and missionaries around the world, and get more involved in missions and ministry that churches without WMU. Discover the joy of being on mission with God!

The five principles of WMU are:

  1. Pray for and give to missions
  2. Do missions
  3. Learn about missions
  4. Develop spiritually toward a mission’s lifestyle
  5. Participate in the work of the church and denomination.
WMU supports the following organizations here at First Baptist Church: Mission Friends, Girls in Action, Acteens, and Women on Mission.

Women on Mission is a missions organization for women aged 18 and up. There are three different WOM groups.

Bible Study Groups: Meetings are held the First Monday evening of each month and meets are various homes. Women grow spiritually as they apply scriptural mission concepts.

Share Groups: Meetings are the First Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. of each month and meets at various homes. Women pray for missionaries, for church mission’s involvement, church members who are sick and with special needs, and take special requests that are on each others hearts and for those who are not Christians.

Mission Study Groups: Meetings are the Third Tuesday of each month at the Hillclimbers Center at noon for a mission study and brown bag lunch.

Once a year, the WOM group prepares and serves lunch for our Baptist Student Ministry at Midwestern University. WOM also works with the Associational WMU to provide and assist with the Women’s Job Service Corp.
